Der Schwerpunkt dieser ersten Ausgabe von Neighbors erstreckt sich auf Tschechien und Polen. Eine Gesangsgruppe aus Prag rekonstruiert ukrainische Volkslieder und bringt sie zur Aufführung (Milánosz). Ein junger polnischer Chansonnier (Jan Bąk) baut seine Lieder auf den lyrischen Traditionen des alten Warschaus auf und mischt sie mit Stimmungen à la Sufjan Stevens. Auf dem Programm stehen viele Künstlerinnen, darunter Dorota Barová, eine tschechische Folk-Jazz-Künstlerin mit polnischen Wurzeln, Stars der Prager Hip-Hop-Jazz-Szene (Metastavy) und eine junge polnische Soul-Diva (Dominika Płonka). Ein Festival von Maxim Silva Vega, eine Produktion des Volkskundemuseum Wien.

Neighbors
Neighbors is a festival that brings together different countries, generations, traditions, genres and eras. Folk roots meet modernity, and both musicians with long creative biographies and very young musicians perform on the same stage.
The focus of this first edition of Neighbors is on the Czech Republic and Poland. A vocal group from Prague reconstructs Ukrainian folk songs and performs them (Milánosz). A young Polish chansonnier (Jan Bąk) builds his songs on the lyrical traditions of old Warsaw and mixes them with moods à la Sufjan Stevens. The program features many female artists, including Dorota Barová, a Czech folk-jazz artist with Polish roots, stars of the Prague hip-hop-jazz scene (Metastavy) and a young Polish soul diva (Dominika Płonka).
On two evenings, Neighbors will focus on a musical exchange with Austria's neighboring countries to the east. Representatives of a young music and art scene will make the unheard in Vienna audible. Artists who otherwise receive little attention in Austria take to the stage. The festival also serves as a networking platform for local and invited musicians.
Neighbors is not only music, but also cinema! On each of the two days, screenings of several short films by young filmmakers from Eastern European countries will serve as an introduction to the concerts. Will be shown docs that have been in the program of the recent editions of Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (Czech Republic).

Vertreter:innen einer jungen Musik- und Kunstszene machen in Wien Ungehörtes hörbar. Es kommen Künstler:innen auf die Bühne, denen in Österreich sonst kaum Aufmerksamkeit zuteilwird. Außerdem dient das Festival als Vernetzungsplattform für heimische und die eingeladenen Musiker:innen.
Neighbors ist nicht nur Musik, sondern auch Kino! Es werden Kurzfilme von jungen Filmemacher*innen aus osteuropäischen Ländern gezeigt und dienen als Einführung in die Konzerte. Die Dokumentarfilme waren bei den letzten Ausgaben des Internationalen Dokumentarfilmfestivals Ji.hlava (Tschechische Republik) im Programm.
