Workshop

Ink & Thread: Sensory Writing & Notebook Binding

Di, 19.05.2026, 17:00 – 21:00
This workshop unfolds in two parts: we begin by diving into sensory writing, then move on to crafting small handmade-paper notebooks for your stories, thoughts and reflections.
Part 1: 17:00–19:00 — The Sensory Writing Workshop with Eleanor Keisman
How often do you think about your daily sensory experience? Are there senses you connect with more easily than others? In this workshop, we’ll begin with several exercises to access your five senses of touch, smell, taste, sound, and sight. You’ll be provided with various stimuli and have the opportunity to write, discuss and share your perceptions of sense with others in the group. Finally, you’ll be provided with a selection of longer writing prompts in which you’ll describe a specific sensory experience. Sharing your work is not required, but is encouraged, as each person will have a unique perception to share.

Part 2: 19:00–21:00 — Handmade Notebook Binding with Youssef Shehata
Many people perceive bookbinding as a complex and technical process, yet it is an ancient craft that can be easily mastered. In this part of the workshop, you’ll learn how to bind your own notebook using simple tools and techniques. The skills you acquire can be easily practiced at home, and transitioning from softcover to hardcover requires only a few additional steps.
